E3+ Programme

The E3+ programme emerged from the LiCore project Smart Transformers: Towards a Mexican Smart Elecrtric Grid, financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). (Further information).

E3+ consistes of a Research and Development (R&D) network which incorporates, on a national and international basis, specialists in electricity generation and transmission, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Higher Education Institutions, Research Centres, and the entrepreneurial and industrial setcor. The company TRAFOS is affiliated with the programme as a platform for commercial distribution.

The portfolio of E3+ projects is composed of R&D proposals oriented to the development of products, processes and services of a technological character which can contribute to the transformation of the national electricity grid into an intelligent electricity network or, Smart Grid, with the objective of improving its sustainability.

The project to develop a Smart Solid State Transformer (3ST) represents the vertebral column of this portfolio of projects. The group of E3+ projects relating to 3ST technology together represent a technological effort with high expectations for commercial exploitation.

The 3ST project is the top priority within the technological strategy of both E3+ and TRAFOS.
